Paradise Valley is a palm-filled gorge cut by the Tamraght river as it descends from the High Atlas foothills north of Agadir, about an hour's drive inland. Sheer rock walls frame a string of natural pools where the water gathers a striking turquoise-green colour, shaded by date palms and oleander — a green oasis that feels a world away from the coastal resort.
A walking trail follows the riverbed between the pools, passing spots where locals and visitors swim and, at the deeper pools, leap from the surrounding rocks. Small café terraces along the route serve tagine and fresh juice, and the valley connects onward toward the palm groves and honey villages of the wider Imouzzer region.
How much water fills the pools depends heavily on the season, so it is worth checking conditions before you set out. The road in is winding and the trailheads are not always obvious, which is where a private driver earns its keep: door-to-door from your Agadir hotel, a start timed to beat the midday crowds, and the flexibility to combine it with the drive up toward Imouzzer.
