The Kik plateau is a broad, grassy tableland that rises above the town of Asni on the road up toward Imlil, offering one of the most complete panoramas of the Toubkal massif anywhere in the western High Atlas. From its open ridges you look across the Asni and Moulay Brahim valleys to a wall of peaks that hold snow well into spring, with scattered Amazigh hamlets and grazing flocks in the foreground.
In spring the plateau is at its best, when the pastures turn green and fill with wildflowers after the winter rains — a favourite time for photographers and for gentle walking along the plateau tracks. It is largely undeveloped: a place of shepherds, dry-stone folds and big skies rather than facilities, which is much of its appeal. The scenery shifts constantly with the light, and the elevation keeps it cooler than the plains below.
A loop over the Kik plateau is easily built into a private day between Marrakech and Imlil, since the tracks and viewpoints are well off the main tourist route and hard to reach without your own vehicle. Your driver can time the crossing for the softer light of morning or late afternoon and pause at the best overlooks, so you get the full sweep of the Toubkal range without a fixed group schedule.
