Fint Oasis lies about ten kilometres south of Ouarzazate, hidden in a fold of the barren hills where a spring-fed river brings a sudden ribbon of green to the desert. The contrast is striking: you drive across dry, stony plateau and then drop into a lush valley of date palms, small irrigated gardens and four earthen hamlets strung along the water.
The villages are home to a mix of Amazigh (Berber) and Haratine families who still farm the narrow plots by hand, and the oasis has a quiet, lived-in feel far removed from the film sets and coach stops closer to town. Its cinematic scenery has drawn productions here too — parts of Babel were filmed in the area — but day to day it remains a working farming community rather than a tourist site. Simple guesthouses and cafés along the river make it a pleasant place to pause, walk between the hamlets and share mint tea.
The last stretch of road to Fint is rough and partly unpaved, and the turnoffs are easy to miss, which is why many visitors arrive with a driver. A private tour handles the track door-to-door and lets you linger for a walk or a riverside lunch without watching the clock for a way back to Ouarzazate.

Go in the morning or late afternoon in spring or autumn when the palms are lush and the light is soft; the rough access road is best avoided after heavy rain.
