A Casablanca airport to Marrakech transfer is a private car and licensed driver who meet you at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), in Nouaceur about 30 km south of Casablanca, then drive you about 225 to 235 km to Marrakech. The road takes 2.5 to 3 hours, mostly on the A3 motorway, and ends at your hotel door or the medina gate nearest your riad. It suits long-haul arrivals, families and anyone who would rather not change trains with luggage.
Highlights
- No changes on the way. By rail, you would take the airport train and then change to a Marrakech train at Casa-Voyageurs or L'Oasis. By road, you stay in one vehicle from arrivals to Marrakech.
- Mostly motorway. Nearly all of the 225 to 235 km runs on the A3, across open farmland.
- The right terminal. Terminal 1 serves Royal Air Maroc and its partners, and Terminal 2 serves other airlines, so the meeting is planned at the hall you actually land in.
- A city stop if you want one. With a few spare hours, the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca can fit in before the drive south.
- Door or gate. The drive ends at a hotel entrance, or at a medina gate where you continue on foot to your riad.
The route
The transfer starts in the arrivals hall of your terminal, once you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. The pickup details below explain how the meeting works. From Nouaceur, the road joins the motorway south, and the city of Casablanca stays behind you.
| Leg or option | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|
| CMN to Marrakech | About 225–235 km | 2.5–3 hours |
| CMN to central Casablanca | About 30 km | Depends on traffic |
| Detour via the Hassan II Mosque | The run into Casablanca and back out | Plan it as a half day |
| Casablanca to Rabat, if you start north instead | About 87–90 km | About 1 hour |
Ask for a coffee stop around halfway if you want to stretch your legs. In Marrakech, hotels in Hivernage and Gueliz have entrances a car can reach. Cars cannot reach most riads inside the walled medina, so the drive ends at the nearest gate, where you walk the last few minutes, usually with a riad porter and a luggage handcart.
For a longer first day, ask about El Jadida on the coast, whose Portuguese City of Mazagan has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. The detour adds several hours to the day.
Good to know
- Check your entry stamp. UK advice notes that travelers have had problems leaving Morocco without one.
- Get some cash. The dirham is a closed currency and hard to obtain outside Morocco, so arrivals is the natural place for your first notes.
- Skip the ride-hailing apps. UK travel advice warns that cars booked through them may be unlicensed and uninsured, and that police may order passengers out.
- Ramadan. Roadside cafés may close by day during the month, which moves about 11 days earlier each year, so carry water and a snack.
- Mosque visits. If you add the Hassan II Mosque, clothing must cover shoulders and knees, and tour times change, so check the official visits page.
- Flying home from CMN? Allow the 2.5 to 3 hour drive plus a generous margin for check-in.
Who it's for
The transfer suits travelers landing after an overnight flight from North America, who can rest in the car instead of moving cases between platforms. It suits families with young children and plenty of luggage, golfers carrying clubs, and anyone staying in a medina riad, where arriving at the right gate matters more than the drive.
It also suits travelers ending a trip in Marrakech who fly home from Casablanca: the same route runs in reverse, from your riad gate or hotel door to the terminal.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?
About 2.5 to 3 hours for roughly 225 to 235 km, almost all of it on the A3 motorway. Allow extra time for a rest stop, for traffic on the way into Marrakech and, if you are staying in the medina, for the short walk from the gate to your riad.
Is there a direct train from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?
No. The airport station beneath Terminal 1 has trains into Casablanca, and reaching Marrakech means changing at Casa-Voyageurs or L'Oasis. Timetables change with the season and during works, so check ONCF for your date if you are weighing the train.
Can we stop at the Hassan II Mosque on the way?
Yes, if you have the time. The airport lies south of Casablanca, so the detour adds the drive into the city and back out; plan it as a half day. Non-Muslims visit on paid guided tours outside prayer times, with shoulders and knees covered.
Can I book the transfer from Marrakech to Casablanca airport?
Yes. The same route runs in reverse, from your riad gate or hotel door to your terminal at Mohammed V. Allow the 2.5 to 3 hour drive plus a generous margin for check-in, and confirm your departure terminal before you travel.
Which terminal should I give the driver?
The one on your ticket. ONDA lists Terminal 1 for Royal Air Maroc and its partners and Terminal 2 for other airlines, but assignments can change, so check your booking shortly before you fly and send it with your flight number.
