About This Tour
Fes el-Bali is a nine-thousand-alley labyrinth, and a licensed guide is the difference between seeing it and getting lost in it. From the blue gate of Bab Bou Jeloud you'll follow the Talaa Kebira artisan spine past madrasas layered in zellige and carved cedar, reach the Chouara Tannery in the morning while the dye pits are at their busiest (and least pungent), and finish among the coppersmiths of Place Seffarine. Your guide handles the navigation, the 'balak!' donkey traffic and the commission touts — you just watch a medieval city at work.
