No — Merzouga is a 9–10 hour drive from Marrakech, so this is a day tour for guests already staying in or near Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. Pickup is from your desert hotel, kasbah, or camp. If you are planning the journey from Marrakech or Fes, contact us and we will quote a multi-day Sahara itinerary instead.

At sunrise or sunset — that is when the dunes glow, the heat is bearable, and camel treks at Erg Chebbi traditionally run. Midday camel rides are neither pleasant nor offered in the hot months, so we structure the day around a golden-hour ride with the dune landscapes, Khamlia village, and other stops in between.

In March and April the Chergui winds pick up and visibility can collapse with little notice. Tours still run, but we may reshuffle the order of stops or swap a dune activity for a sheltered one on the day. Bring a scarf — locals will show you how to tie it — and sunglasses regardless of season.

Loose, light layers that cover shoulders and legs (better against sun and blown sand than shorts), closed shoes, sunglasses, and a scarf for wind and sand. The standard minivan handles the paved circuit, and a 4x4 is available on request for the sandy pistes along the dune edge, Dayet Srji lake when it holds water, and rougher desert tracks. If you want to get properly off the tarmac, request the 4x4 when booking.
